Here’s how people stumbled across my site so far today

And I would just like to say that my award for the best search query goes to whoever searched for “white wine diet”. Although, though that is my kind of diet, I’m quite worried that it came up so highly in Google 😉

Not a rant

Have realised this page is full of me moaning, I’m not that miserable, honest 🙂

And it’s Friday, so yah!!  And four of us are going out to play in Brighton tomorrow so double yah!!

And I didn’t ache after going to the gym for the first time in my life ever, so that makes me a finely tuned athlete I think 😉

And I’ve arranged for my bathroom to be done, has only taken four years to get round to doing it, watch this space for the obligatory before and after pics 🙂

A rant

As Mr Joggerblogger is missing my rants, here’s one.

I joined a gym last Tuesday and had arranged for my induction to be yesterday lunchtime at 1pm.  I decided evening would be better so last Thursday emailed them to ask if I could change it to 6pm.  No reply so on Monday morning I emailed them and and still no reply so I emailed them again Monday afternoon and still no reply so I did that speaking on a telephone thing (remember that from the 80s?) Monday evening and spoke to someone who said that 6pm would be fine so I went up there last night at 6pm and got changed only to be told that they don’t do inductions on Tuesday evenings.  Aarrgghh, not only do they ignore my emails now they’ve got my hard earned cash but they waste my time too.  The girl on reception was good enough to say that it was probably her I’d spoken to and that she didn’t know about the no induction on a Tuesday evening thing so now I’ve got to go back tonight at 6.30 which means I’ve got to hang around for an hour and spend tons of money shopping (damn shame) but also I was supposed to be going out tonight to stuff my face with Thai food and Belgian beer but had to cancel as, if I leave the induction until next week, then it’ll be two weeks since I bought my membership without actually doing any gym type things.  Sort of like most people with gym membership I suppose.

Why did the jogger cross the road

Aarrgghh, yesterday I attempted to run across the road to my mate’s van as it was raining.  Well, I didn’t want to go to his van because it was raining but we wanted to try out my new iTrip in the van.  The rain was incidental but I didn’t want to get my hair wet for vain girly reasons.  Couldn’t even do that.  How big is a road?  A few feet?  My leg gave way, it wasn’t having it.  Bl**dy hell, will I ever recover? 🙁

Bored

Tomorrow it will be 3 weeks since I went to the hospital and my leg’s still not better.

I’m bored of limping, I’m bored of icing, I’m bored of ibuprofen, I’m bored of arnica, I’m bored of resting and I want to get back out running!  I haven’t even had a run in the sun so I haven’t experienced how hard that is yet 🙂

Who’s got any tips for me to get me uninjured again?

Knee update

Still the same I think, some days my leg’s stiffer than others, some days my knee hurts, sometimes it doesn’t.  My mum said (well actually she ordered me) to put arnica on it so I have done, not sure if it’s doing anything though.

I’m still walking from Liverpool Street station which doesn’t seem to be making it worse and today I joined a gym near my workplace as I have a theory that if I strengthen up, then I won’t spend most of the time being injured after running.  I’ve never been in a gym before, it was smaller than I imagined.  Lots of people on treadmills.  That didn’t look very exciting.  The instructor who showed me round told me which machines won’t aggravate my knee while it’s getting better and I’ve got an induction on Tuesday where I’ll be shown how to use everything.  Got a free rucksack too 🙂

How many times do I need to go the gym to burn off a pizza?

Leg update

The knee is feeling much better, thanks I think to the icing.  Now I just have the pulled muscle feeling a bit higher up.  Seem to be walking nearly normally now though so decided to walk the 1.7 miles from Liverpool Street station to work and feel a lot better for it, haven’t had any exercise for weeks!  The walking made me want to break into a run but it was a nice walk, not too busy and in my own little world with my iPod on.  Fingers crossed my leg is ok tomorrow.  If it is, I’m going to carry on walking and hopefully that will strengthen my leg a bit and I can attempt to run in about a week.  I know I’m going to be absolutely gutted with how much fitness I will have lost though.  Oh well, it’ll soon come back.  Hopefully.

Ran out of ibuprofen today and I’m not going to buy any more as I’m bored of taking them, have been through five packs and I’m going to start rattling soon!

Anyway, I don’t want to turn this into a walkblog, so I’m going to shut up now, a gardening blog’s bad enough (have someone coming round to give me a quote for a lawn and decking and new fence on Sunday, ooh , exciting!)

Diet

Something I ate on Friday caused me to go 1800 calories over quota. Here’s what I had

Peppermint tea
Apple
Apple
Nectarine
Tandoori Quorn pieces and couscous
Twix
Strawberries
Tomato sauce with olives, asparagus, garlic and mushrooms
Wholewheat spaghetti
Two slices of rice cheese
Nectarine
White wine spritzer
Cheese & onion Walkers crisps
KitKat Chunky
White wine
Apple
White wine
White wine
3/4 tub of Haagen Dazs
White wine

Too much fruit do you think? 😉 I won’t even go into the meal I had in the pancake house last night, deep fried cheese balls? Mmmmmmmm. I was so full I asked for tap water when we got to the pub! Even my mate was so stuffed he asked for a short instead of a pint 🙂

Week 1 under doctor’s orders

Well, the first week of painkillers and resting is over and my knee is definitely feeling better, the icing’s helping too (thanks Joggerblogger).  That’s icing as in coldness, not icing as in icing on a cake or icing sugar or any kind of icing based confectionary, even if the compress is living next to the Haagen Dazs in the freezer.

Knee is still quite stiff though, so let’s see how it is in a week.

Anyway, it’s Friday and it’s wine o’clock, yah!

Cold comfort

Bought one of these today on the recommendation of Joggerblogger. According to Boots’ website you use it cold for sports-type injuries. Woo, I’ve got a sports-type injury, does that make me a proper runner? 😉

It’s in the freezer getting cold nestled amongst the Quorn burgers and Belgian Chocolate Haagen Dazs at the mo, will give it a go later. Hopefully with the compress, the tablets and the resting (oh, hang on a minute, haven’t done much resting, oops) I’ll be back on my feet soon. I’m just looking forward to being able to walk properly at the mo and what I’m going to do is I think is when my knee feels better, walk the two miles to work from Liverpool Street station for a few days instead of going straight back to running. Heh heh, famous last words probably – the moment my knee feels better I’ll probably be heading straight for the park.

Wonder how much fitness I’ve lost? I reckon even a mile’s going to be optimistic 🙁

Ho hum.
